| How did you come up with Beans? | |
| An old friend and I had been drawing cartoons for the Southwestern Sun for a few years when we decided that it was about time that they had a comic strip. Since we are both insanely silly, we decided that we would draw comics based upon our lives. After college we both went our comicy ways and I continued Beans( minus the s) randomly, for fun. Then I decided it was stupid to take off the s, so I added it back again towards the 2005 year. | |
| Are the comics really from real life situations? | |
| Yes. The penguins. The Canadian spiders. We were pretty silly. | |
| Why did you decide to call it Beans? | |
| I have always been fond of the word "bean" since you know, its short and cute and stuff. It is also fun to say randomly. Go ahead. Say it. Bean! | |
| Those 2 lovable boy characters in the first comic, they look familiar... | |
| In the first official Beans comic "date me" there are two characters drawn from different inspirations. The tall man was drawn after Bob Saget ( I was watching Nick at nite's Full House at the time) and the short round guy was kinda based of theodore from Alvin and the Chipmunks. Who would have thunk it. | |
| Where can I find Beans off the internet? | |
| You can't anymore! Its run at the Southwestern College Sun has come to an end, and for now you can just find them heeere! | |
| What about that racism problem? | |
| Fun story! Beans was premiered the first issue of the SWC newspaper in February of 2004. People loved it. However, some people were appalled. Thanks to some unthoughtfull planning, the cartoon was placed under an article for a club on campus called MeCHA, which is mostly comprised of Hispanic people. Well, these people thought that since the comic was called "Beans" we were mocking their culture and calling them names. The Newspaper advisor got various angry phone calls demanding the cartoon be renamed or taken out of the paper.It was not discontinued and It was not renamed. | |

And I like petting his head. And besides that he got eaten by a shark in
the comic "Beach
Time" anyway's. see look!
