Yes.
Yes he is large. Yes he kinda smells a little bit. But yes, he is
the COOLEST SOCK MONKEY EVER! Okay, so he isnt technically a sock,
but he was modeled off a sock monkey. And I did the best I could
with what I had.
The whole process took about Id say 2 months. The first 2 months
were procrastinating, then the last week was the actually assembly
part.
The idea started as a 6 foot tall sock monkey marionette, but after
a few miscalculations, I decided this monkey was meant for the ground.
The reasoning behind his
astronomical height is, well, I sort of just guessed on what size
to make his buttons. |
I was sitting around
in ceramics class one day, and thought hm, I should get working
on those buttons, so I found a medium size bowl and traced it. After
firing, and glazing it was only then that I actually measured the
buttons. I did the math and realized that his proportions were just
a taaaad bigger than 6 feet. Try... 15. Monkey oh-no!
So after months of begging and haggling for packing peanuts (its
what he is stuffed with) from people on Craigslist and san diego
free cycle, Buttons the Monkey, is complete.
Id like to specially thank EVERYONE for all the peanuts, patience,
help, and support in making this monkey real :-)

SUPER
SOCK MONKEY
©almezzina 8/4/05
As far as sock monkeys may go
There's something that you need to know;
That Mr. Buttons, overgrown,
Is not like any you have known.
He'd stand about 15 feet tall
But can't, of course, because he'd fall.
To go somewhere or even sit
Needs lots of room where he can fit;
One eye is red, the other blue
But either one he'll keep on you.
He'll make you cozy, be at ease
Whatever, he's just there to please
To hug and squeeze, to poke and shove
But he won't mind. He's full of love.
And just to make your life complete
He's full of peanuts you can eat.
